Let’s get your new broadband router set up!
What you’ll find within your router box
You will have received a box, inside this box there will be a router and some other items. The other items will include a yellow cable, a grey cable, and a small white box called a micro filter.
Connecting the microfilter
The type of master socket you have on your wall will dictate whether or not you actually need to plug your micro filter in. If your socket only has one input, as shown at 0:25 seconds, then you will need to connect the supplied micro filter. However, if your socket has two inputs as shown at 0:32 seconds then you will not need to connect the micro filter as one is already built into the socket.
Please note, accidentally connecting a micro filter to a socket that does not require one is known as double filtering and may result in a disrupted connection.
If you are not using a micro filter, simply insert the grey cable into the socket as shown at 0:52 seconds and ensure the other end of the cable is plugged into the router (shown at 0.55 seconds) and remember, ensure your router is powered by plugging it into your electrical socket.
